Child Ghost in my House???

My sis discovered something spooky in my house over the wkend. She was at home with the kids on Sat. My bro-in-law had gone fishing at Ubin. At about maghrib, she started to snap pictures around the house using her camera. This was wat she caught on camera...

Its not clear here...but let me describe what I see on the camera itself. Basically at the bottom right corner of my dining table chair, we could make out the face of what look like a baby. U know the kind when babies crawl and then play peek-a-boo meaning they will stick out their head? That's what I see on the camera. Apparently, my sis took a couple of pics in quick succession. In the next pic, we could only make out the face partially. Maybe, "it" saw her snapping away on the camera and pulled "it's" head back...

Spooky? U bet!

The Chef is in da House!!

Money spent on groceries for surprise picnic - $20/-
Money spent on 2 stalks of freshly-cut roses - $1.20/-
Look of surprise on B2's face - priceless

Yup, B1 decided to be a chef for the day to celebrate our 16 mths together. Yup, yup I'm the type who likes to celebrate monthly anniversaries...keeps the spark in the relationship..hehehe.
Anyway, the planning began on Thursday itself with the help from my lady adviser's i.e. Dyanna & Az. Their enthusiasm in giving me ample ideas for the surprise picnic certainly rubbed off on me.

First stop, grocery shopping on Fri, my off day. The list was...
1. Bonjour cheesecake
2. Garlic spread
3. Chocolate rice
4. Bread
5. Cheese
6. Grapes
7. Bananas
8. Sparkling juice
9. Almond biscuits

Today itself this is what i did....suppose to meet B2 at 12.45pm. So i left earlier to get a couple of roses from Bedok market...(i've learnt from Dyanna to pay attention to details..so i've confirmed with the nyonya that her stall is opened on sundays). Got myself a pink and purple (B2's favorite color) rose.

Met her at eunos interchange and took service 93 to Macritchie. That's where I presented my menu to B2..

The chef (minus the apron) in deep concentration, preparing the food...

After what seemed like eternity under the scorching sun....wala!......presenting the chef's special...

I just love how the cheesecake turns out. (Note to Dyanna and Az - not really a smiley sandwich as B2 dun eat veggies). That was how our 16th mth anniversary was spent..with lots of love.

I dedicate this entry to my one and only B2 a.k.a Norrah....No One Ravishing Rank Above Her...N.O.R.R.A.H...geddit?? hehehehe...

Top of the world!!!!

Did something special yest. I actually went for a hike to MacRitchie Reservoir with B2 and her frens. Why MacRitchie? Well, they have a new attraction, the HSBC tree-top walk.

To get to the tree-top walk, we first had to go thru the trail which totalled 11km! It was an extremely hot day with the temp hovering at 34 degrees. The passing shower only provided a temporary respite. We started walking at 11am and ard 1-plus we made our way across the bridge. This was wat greeted us at the top...

The spectacular view

On the way down, had an opportunity to show to B2 a leaf that every NSmen knows about and probably shared the tales with the gfs....

Presenting the world famous CB(abbreviation for a dialect term for a female anatomy)Leaf!!

We completed the walk at 4pm and had dinner at Little India. All in all, it was a welcome change from our usual habit of simply eating every wkend..hehehehehe!

Screwed up function

Had my dept annual function. I was one of the Games MC. It was a NIGHTMARE!

My dept consists of plenty of old timers a.k.a ANTIQUES. So it was a bloodsucking time trying to get them to participate in the games. All they were interested in was eat and the lucky draw. And one thing else, majority are just bloody rude. They came late. They were supposed to reach by 6.15. And to meet this timing, they were released at 4.15. Still they were late!!!! Reason being rain and traffic jam. TRAFFIC JAM??!!! We have told them days in advance that the road will be closed for Chingay preview. Bloody hell!!!

And when the director was giving a speech, they were still talking. And they are adults mind u! And all the makciks who made so much noise abt the food i.e. wether they halal, wether the caterer uses separate cutleries from the hotel blah blah...wat did they do? They never turn up!

There were numerous complains lah..kasi makan free pun banyak soal. Bila tak buat kat hotel, request for the function to be held at hotel. Bila dah buat kat hotel, dun wan to turn up...

Sigh....when u try to please everybody, u end up pleasing nobody.

My Singapore - Full of Surprises

Read this article by Jeremy Lim(14 yrs old, Young Ambassador for NKF's Children's Medical Fund) in Today newspaper. The headline was "More Fines Are Just Fine"

In it, he recommended the following:
1. $200/- fine for being unkind to pregnant women, the elderly or parents carrying infants on public transport.
2. $100/- fine for those not punctual for a wedding dinner or concert, double it if they fail to turn up.

The idea is to get rid of bad habits when education and encouragement fail to do the job.

I agree with this statement though - never mind if Singapore is known as a fine city so long as it is fine-beautiful, gracious and refined. I mean, how cool is that coming from a 14-yr old?

On a lighter note, the news last night featured some of the cleanest toilets in Singapore. We even have the "Restroom Association of Singapore" and get this, they interviewed the PRESIDENT of the association!!! To flush(pun intended) home the point, they set up a table in the toilet and ate there...while saying cheers with a cup of good old teh tarik!! hahahahaha!

Total Defence Day

Today marks the fall of Singapore to Japan 63 yrs ago. To mark the occasion, SCDF sounded the public warning system. What does this means to all of us? We shld be thankful that we enjoy peace and prosperity.

Anyway let me relate a funny incident my younger nephew, Shahrul, a.k.a Shah Rukh Khan (that's what he thinks he is) had last yr for TD Day. For that day the school (name withheld, Lee Kuan Yew used to study here) issued coupons to the students. So for that day the canteen only sell foods that were eaten during the Japanese Occupation. Shahrul got sweet potato. Kesian dia...dah lah kurus macam POW, dapat sweet potato. Nasib macam kentang dah!

Anyway, he refused to eat them, and he went on hunger strike. Member balik rumah muka stressed. Complain to the mum a.k.a my sis that he hungry. HAHAHAHA!

So to all Singaporeans, treasure our peace. However, if all else fails, there's ppl like me to rescue the damsels in distress. We dun take the SAF pledge for nothing baby!

The SAF Pledge

We, Members of the Singapore Armed Forces, do solemnly and sincerely pledge that: We will always bear true faith and allegiance to the President and the Republic of Singapore; We will always support and defend the Constitution; We will preserve and protect the honour and independence of our country with our lives.

Lovers' Day

My sun was spent recovering from food fest hangover. Met B2 ard 3pm for lunch (or was it dinner?). We planned to go to bugis village to get myself a chinese costume for my dept D&D. Although I was not keen on spending money on sumthing that i would use only once.

Anyway, on the way there, B2 told me that i have a shirt that resembles a chinese shirt..sort of...which means i did not have to spend a single cent! Thanks B2!

Went to Bugis anyway..to catch a movie...Constantine

My ratings are:
The movie itself - 3 1/2 nachos set
The ability for the movie to confuse me - 5 nachos set

Did some shopping at Watson's where B2 spent close to 50 bucks on woman's stuff. We also dropped by at Coffee Bean for pure chocolate...mmmm!

Well, today is Valentine's Day a.k.a Lovers Day a.k.a Exploitation Day (where all retailers gang up to squeeze out all the dollars off you). A close fren called me before lunch asking what my plans were for Valentine's Day. I told him that I don't celebrate things that don't have "ciri-ciri ke-Islaman....hahahahaha!

So to all lovers out there....enjoy yourselves! To the singles...be glad u manage to save some money...hehehehehe!

Operation Food Junkie....Burp!

Yest, B1 and B2 were on a makan session...

First stop, City Square...and we had:
1. garlic bread (RM2)...which was excellent!
2.pizza...a bit too dry
3.beef lasagne....so-so only

Proceed to window-shop a bit. B2 went to a guy's worst nitemare....shoe shop (Vincci)...NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky we had another pit-stop after that at Coffee Bean where we had:

1. small ultimate ice-blended (RM11)....add RM1 and we could have a large one. But we were not looking for a caffeine overdose.
2.chocolate swirl cheesecake..yummy!
Everything is halal at coffee bean in Malaysia...which makes me wonder why it cant be the same in Singapore. Hmmmm...maybe i shld write in??

Then window-shopped some more....before proceeding for our final destination...SEAFOOD DINNER. A good fren recommended Restoran Singgah Selalu...at Danga Bay, Lido Beach. Took a cab there....costs us RM10....B2 wanted to pay only RM5. But my policy is for food wise i can't be bothered..just get me to the destination...no questions asked.

We drove along the Sultan of Johor palace compound. Man..its freaking big! Anyways, after some searching on foot, we found the place. And proceeded to order this:

SEAFOOD MENU

Yup that's wat we had..
1.pari bakar
2.udang bijirin oat
3.kangkong sambal
4.salad yu char kueh
5.sotong mentega
6.drinks
7.rice

And all that for RM60!....this place was featured in TV3's JALAN2 CARI MAKAN. So its highly recommended.

We took a bus back from Larkin. My final pit-stop, to buy half a dozen Dunkin Donuts. The staff was a she-male and heshe was checking me out! EEWWWW!!!!!

That was my day....soulman out!
