The dust has settled
A momentous occasion happened on Saturday, 06 May. That's when my family and I exercised our right to vote as Singaporeans. Yup, we belong to the select few who lives in a contested area for GE2006. To add to the spice, we are in Aljunied GRC, the hottest of hotspots.
My sis, being the eager-beaver she is, woke me up at 7am (!) that day. We ended up being the first ppl in the queue at our polling centre. By 8.10am, we were already done and having prata for breakfast. Anyways, when ppl asked me who I vote for, my standard reply was "My vote is secret but I'm voting for my children's future".
Since it was a first-time vote for me, I was pretty excited. At least I can proudly say that I've voted at least once in my life. My sis have voted twice so far, the first time in MacPherson SMC in 2001, where we used to live.
Being so engrossed in politics myself, I stayed up very late into Sunday morning watching the results coming in, right up to the press conference which ended at 3am. Dunno why, but have been doing this for each GE even when I was young. (A politician in the making?? HA3!)
Looking forward to my next GE in 2011. Hopefully, I'll get to vote since I'm most likely going to be in Marine Parade GRC in the near future (barring any electoral boundary being re-drawn). HA3!
